This edition of Fracline focuses on our expanded product offerings, case histories, additional transloads, and frac fluids.
|Momentive Now Offers Stimulation and Production Chemicals Including Demulsifiers, Defoamers, Fines Control and H2S Scavengers|
Momentive offers a lot more than resin coated proppants. With the combined divisions of the new Momentive, we have expanded our product offerings to the oil and gas industry. This includes foam control agents and demulsifiers based on silicones; triazines that act as an H2S (hydrogen sulfide) scavenger for crude oil and natural gas; along with a fines control additive used during acid jobs.
Momentive’s OilPlus™ proppant was introduced in 2011 to the U.S. in a 20/40 mesh size. The product is now available in 30/50 and 40/70 mesh sizes as well. We are also now manufacturing OilPlus proppant at our Canadian plant.
Momentive is well situated to provide resin coated proppant to the Bakken Shale. This includes transloads in the east, west and in Canada to the north. We also offer manufacturing capacity to the east and to the north on the main rail lines supporting the area.
Our U.S. Quick Reference Guide provides the latest information on our products. Technical specifications are listed along with application content and AcTivator™ consolidation aid temperature requirements.
There are primarily three types of fracturing fluids currently used. These are water frac or slick water, linear gel, and crosslinked gel. All three of these frac fluids have different properties and applications.
There has been an increased focus on stimulating liquid-rich shale plays with bottom-hole static temperatures (BHST) of less than 150°F (66°C). The proper incorporation and utilization of Momentive’s AcTivator™ consolidation aid with curable resin coated proppants (RCP) are important to successful proppant pack consolidation at these low temperatures.
We recently opened new transloads in Pittsburgh, PA and Dore, ND, adding to our already extensive network of transload facilities located near the major plays throughout North America. Momentive continues to open additional transloads to ensure our customers receive the right proppant – right where they need it.
Momentive strives to provide our customers with the highest quality products. Utilizing statistical process controls as part of a Six Sigma deployment, we are continuously improving our processes to ensure that we manufacture and deliver high quality resin coated proppant with consistent performance properties. Field samples from competitive proppant suppliers that are tested often do not perform up to the specifications published by the company. The results of recent tests show that sieve sizes are not in line with published data, which can have an impact on performance. Contact your local sales representative for more information.
Momentive Performance Materials offers silicone products that act as antifoams and demulsifiers. These silicone-based products offer significant performance benefits in the production, transportation, and refining of oil and gas. They help overcome tough issues in the separation of water from crude oil. Momentive's silicones efficiently break water-in-oil emulsions and control foam in oil-based systems. A recent case history highlights the successful implementation of silicone products.
